Tzimas Dimitrios

He was born in Laista, Ioannina in 1958. He graduated from the Lyceum of the Zosimaia School of Ioannina in 1977. He studied at the Department of Audiovisual and Cinematic Studies of the Université Paris VIII, in Paris, where he obtained the titles Licence (1981) and Maitrise (1982). . In 1983 he obtained the master’s degree D.E.A. specializing in the History of Photography. In 1986 he completed his postgraduate studies at the same university with the award of a Doctorate for his thesis “Photography in Greece in the 19th century. Critical description of its evolution through the work of Greek and foreign photographers within a clearly defined social context”. From 1985 until 1995 he worked as a professional photographer. His scientific works have been published and presented in journals and conferences. He has edited many photographic publications. He is the author of the book “Dimitris Charisiadis, Photographs 1911-1993”, the first edition of which has long been sold out and the second revised and improved edition will soon be released. He has written articles in newspapers and periodicals. In the period 1987-2012 he was a regular member of the evaluation committee for photography and cinema degrees of DIKATSA (DOATAP). He is the editor of FOTOGRAFOS magazine. He has been teaching in the Department of Photography continuously since 1985.
