Aliki Tsirgialou was born in Athens in 1974. She studied photography at the AKTO College of Art and Design (1993-1996). In 1999 she obtained her Masters degree in Photography: History and Culture from the London College of Printing and Distributive Trades of the London Institute. Since 2000, she has been working as a curator at the Photographic Archive of the Benaki Museum and in 2008 she became the head of the department. During this period she was involved with archival work and documentation of the collection as well as organized numerous photographic exhibitions and edited the accompanying catalogues. In the field of research she has written articles relating to the history of Greek photography and participated in conferences in Greece and abroad.
