Born in Thessaloniki, 1962. Studied Physics at Aristotelian University of Thessaloniki (1984), photography at New York University (Master of Arts, 1992), while his PhD in Photography was obtained by the School of Journalism and Mass Media, AUTh (2005). Working as a curator at the Thessaloniki Museum of Photography since 1999, he served as its director during 2016-2018. He co-organized the annual international festival Photosynkyria between 1993-2006, and was its artistic director in 2003 and 2006. The past thirty years he has published a large number of texts and essays on photography and curated also a large number of exhibitions. His published books include “Marlboro photography and the mild Wild West” (2009), “The Landscape of the Greek Photograph, between Myth and Ideology” (2014), the collective anthology of essays “Greek Photography and Photography in Greece” (ed., 2013), “Nature and Truthity” (2017) and “Photography as an Enigma” (2020). He has translated in Greek theoretical works on photography by Villém Flusser, Susan Sontag, Ian Jeffrey and Julian Stallabrass.
