QUALITY POLICY OF THE GRADUATE STUDY PROGRAM “PHOTOGRAPHY: RESEARCH AND METHODOLOGY”

 

The Postgraduate Study Program “Photography: Research and Methodology” of the Department of Photography and Audiovisual Arts of the University of Western Attica is committed to providing high quality higher education to its students. The commitment of teachers to the continuous improvement of teaching, research work and the services provided is a primary choice. The Postgraduate Study Program “Photography: Research and Methodology” has established and implements a specific quality policy, which is completely connected to the legal and regulatory framework that governs the operation of the University of West Attica. Through establishing, evaluating and redefining the quality policy, it is committed to achieving high performance. With this strategy, it will highlight values, standards and examples, in order to contribute to the Foundation’s pursuit of high-quality teaching and research results that will contribute to a stable development path for the country. The Master’s Degree Program “Photography: Research and Methodology” in collaboration with the Quality Assurance Unit (MO.DI.P.) harmonizes the Quality Policy of the Master’s Degree Program according to the principles of the Foundation’s Quality Policy (Decision of the Foundation’s Senate, 4th extraordinary meeting, 08-05-2020).

The objectives of the Master’s Degree “Photography: Research and Methodology” of the Department of Photography and Audiovisual Arts are to offer specialized theoretical and technical knowledge:

a) in research as a tool for the development of the photographic work and in the study and methodology of the compilation of photographic archives,

b) in matters of aesthetics and rhetoric of the contemporary photographic image and

c) in the role of the photographic image in the economy of art and communication.

All the actions of the Master’s program aim at the continuous formation and development of a flexible and modern curriculum. Its strategic goals, which are harmonized and derive from the quality policy of the University of Western Attica, are:

1. the suitability of the structure and organization of the Study Programs it offers in compatibility with the criteria set by the current legislation,

2. the pursuit of learning outcomes and qualifications in accordance with the European and National Higher Education Qualifications Framework, 3.

the continuous improvement of the educational process and the effectiveness of the teaching work,

4. the orientation towards the full satisfaction of students’ needs through the provision of a high level of education in the subjects it treats,

5. the appropriateness of the qualifications of the teaching staff,

6. the level of demand for the acquired qualifications of graduates in the labor market,

7. the quality of support services, such as administrative services, academic services (e.g. library services , laboratories, etc.) and student welfare services,

8. the production of high-level research,

9. the promotion of collaborations and the utilization of the results for the benefit of society and the strengthening of extroversion by promoting new collaborations at the local, national and international level.

The main axes on which the quality assurance and improvement policy of the Master’s “Photography: Research and Methodology” is structured are connected and are part of the strategy of the University of Western Attica, are the following:

• The continuous reformation and improvement of the study programs provided.

• Strengthening student-centered learning.

• The improvement of performance and performance of students.

• Providing incentives to conduct research.

• Transparency and compliance with the Foundation’s operating rules by all parties involved.

• Strengthening the research project.

• Producing more and high-impact publications in international peer-reviewed journals, peer-reviewed volumes and conference proceedings.

• The continuous improvement of the working conditions of the teaching, research, administrative and other staff.

• The development of synergies with other Postgraduate Study Programs of the University of Western Attica.

• The development of extroversion.

• Attracting high-level teachers from Greece and abroad.

• The flexible utilization of alternative sources of funding (participation in international programs, self-financed study programs, sponsorships/donations)

• The contribution of the Master’s “Photography:

Research and Methodology” for effective organization and implementation of direct and indirect support activities for vulnerable social groups. The Master’s Program, as well as the Department of Photography and Audiovisual Arts, is committed to the implementation of a quality policy in conditions of security, equality and transparency.

THE COMMUNICATION OF POLITICAL QUALITY

The Master’s Program “Photography: Research and Methodology” in harmony with the activities of the Department of Photography and Audiovisual Arts of the University of Western Attica communicates its quality policy in inter-institutional events of national and international level as well as in meetings with professional, research, social, environmental and cultural institutions. The Postgraduate Study Program “Photography: Research and Methodology” follows specific ways of communicating the quality policy, as listed below: Updating its website at regular intervals to inform new entrants, current students and graduates as well as any potentially interested parties , all the necessary information about the courses, the thesis preparation instructions as well as other activities.
